Latest Marvel Comics January 2023 Avengers War Across Time

Avengers: War Across Time (2023) #1

The Avengers, including Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Giant-Man, and the Wasp, face off against the Hulk in New York City at the beginning of a showdown with Kang the Conqueror that spans across time. Written by Eisner Hall of Famer Paul Levitz and illustrated by acclaimed artist Alan Davis, this comic takes place after the events of Avengers (1963) #11. The Avengers have returned to New York after their second battle with Kang and must defeat one of his lifelike robots modeled after one of their own, The Incredible Hulk. This comic is a well-crafted throwback to the Avengers' glory days and serves as an introduction to Kang's character. With the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania set to position Kang as a significant threat in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this series is an excellent introduction to his character. The Avengers: War Across Time is a great fight comic and celebration of classic Avengers comics. With tons of Alan Davis art, it delivers a feel of how comics were read back in the day.

Black Panther 013

Black Panther, removed from the Avengers and exiled from Wakanda, is on his own in a fight against a threat that has deep ties to his past. He forms a ragtag group of allies to take on the threat of a rogue sleeper agent, Jhai. However, the group faces resistance, not only from the terrorists they are fighting, but also from the Avengers, who are determined to stop T'Challa from taking action. The battle between Black Panther and the Avengers takes an unexpected turn when an unlikely ally joins T'Challa's side, revealing his own hidden agenda. The teams must navigate their trust issues with Black Panther and find a way to take down the data centers that have been taken over around the world. As they prepare for battle, Black Panther finds himself facing off against Steve Rogers who orders him to stand down, and the ensuing fight reveals an unexpected ally.

Captain America Symbol of Truth 009

Captain America, played by Sam Wilson, is thrown into chaos when White Wolf unleashes an enemy from Nomad's past onto Mohannda's civilians. Sam's priority shifts to stopping the attack from Dimension Z before it's too late. Sam takes on the shield once more and finds himself in a world of trouble. Following a lead from Misty Knight, he intercepts a mysterious group hijacking what appears to be an empty train. As he investigates, he discovers that the plot may be connected to a crucial piece of Captain America's history and Wakanda. The world can manage two Captain Americas, but the real question is? is Sam as Captain America ready for what is waiting for him? This new chapter of Captain America's story is written by Tochi Onyebuchi and illustrated by R.B. Silva, promising an action-packed and thrilling journey. This first issue sets the tone for the new Captain America era, with plenty of action, great art, and a promising story ahead.

Carnage 009

In Carnage #9, the story picks up where it left off in the previous issue, with the Carnage symbiote and Kenneth Neely arriving on Nidavellir in search of a mysterious new character who could prove vital in stopping the symbiote's quest for god-like power. This new chapter in the symbiote's journey, titled "Forged in Blood," begins with the symbiote painfully extracting what it wants from Malekith the Accursed, but still being left with an insatiable desire for more power. The comic reveals the symbiote's plans for a weapon it needs to level destruction across the universe. Although the comic has a slow start in terms of action and dialogue, it sets up for an exciting next issue. This installment follows the events of issue #7 and focuses on the symbiote's attempt to become an unstoppable force through Norse technology and abilities. Overall, the comic leaves the reader curious about the symbiote's grand plan, but still enjoying the journey.

Ghost Rider #10

The Shadow Country arc reaches its shocking conclusion in Ghost Rider #10, as battles take place in the blood-soaked tunnels beneath Chicago and on the horned altar of Hell's Backbone. Characters such as Blackheart, Exhaust, Zeb, Talia Warroad, and the Ghost Rider himself will all collide, with not all of them making it out alive. This final chapter of the arc will set the stage for new allies, new threats, and possibly the return of some familiar faces. Benjamin Percy and Cory Smith's Ghost Rider series has been thrilling since the beginning of The Shadow Country arc, and this conclusion promises to be no different.

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur #2

Lunella has discovered that her roller derby teammate, tween influencer OMG Olivia, is actually a Kree in disguise who aims to control all the Inhumans on Earth. She must act quickly to stop Olivia before she harms anyone, especially the other Inhuman kids on the derby team. However, being a superhero also means that she has to worry about the safety of her friends, particularly when Olivia's brainwashing nanobots take over Devil Dinosaur.
